Born to a Black father and a Japanese mother in Queens NYC, Kilala Ichie-Vincent is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in architecture and design. Strongly influenced by her parents' careers within the fashion industry, her childhood focused heavily on observing and understanding self expression and style across different cultures. Her father’s career in fashion photography shaped her understanding of composition and communication. Her mother’s bold sense of personal style inspired Kilala’s imagination and creativity. Kilala studied architecture at University of Michigan’s Taubman School of Architecture to learn how to use her creativity in a way that engaged with people. In Architecture school, Kilala focused heavily on offering design solutions to issues like climate change and socio-economic disparities. She learned the impact design can have on helping people communicate with one another to lead a more inclusive world.

She graduated from The Bronx High School of Science in 2018 and graduated from University of Michigan’s Taubman School of Architecture in 2022. Despite studying architecture, her passions and skill set ranges from publication design, fashion, graphic design, and photography. She currently resides in NYC where she DJ’s, bakes, and hangs with her friends.
